In the ermetic tradition, the ouroboros' image symbolizes the union between the fixed and the ephemeral, between the body and the soul. Therefore, in its circularity, it represents the infinite, the eternity, and even the unity, because every point on the circumference is equidistant from the centre and in a tight contact from each other point.
